When Medicine Wheel opened its doors on National Indigenous Day on June 21st, 2017, owner Rob Stevenson made a commitment to quality and safety. He wanted to focus on cannabis as a medicine and to provide a safe and reliable supply. Those efforts led him to do the following:
We test all cannabis products for their potency and to ensure they are not contaminated with mold or pesticides.
We sell all products in childproof containers to minimize the risks to youth.
We sell Indigenous made cannabis products and support nation to nation trading.
Over the last four years, Medicine Wheel has held on to these core beliefs and has earned its place at the forefront of the Indigenous cannabis industry on Turtle Island.
The key focus for Medicine Wheel has been on the medicinal side of cannabis, something that the LPs and Provincially licensed retailers are legally prevented from addressing. In contrast, Medicine Wheel has prioritized the healing properties of cannabis rather than the recreational side of the plant.
We have produced a Treatment and Ailment Guide to healing with cannabis, and our highly trained bud tenders know what kind of product to recommend for treating your ailments.
Our focus on the medicinal has led us to focus on the quality and trustworthiness of the products we sell, and to lab test our own products. We grow a significant portion of our own products so we can guarantee the quality of the medicine we provide.
We are scrupulous about not selling cannabis to minors, and in order to safeguard your product, everything we sell comes in childproof containers.
Because of our Aboriginal and Treaty rights, Indigenous dispensaries have the ability to bypass the government cannabis licensing system and shape an industry that falls in line with Indigenous cultures and values.
